Prepack plants usually filled with bare-root plants or bulbs are sold during the autumn and spring and can be good value for money. However this may not be the best time to plant out in your garden, there is still a good chance of bad weather.

You should also be aware that stores are not a good place to sell pre-pack plants, the plant will get too warm and start growing. They need the light when they grow, but are kept in the dark and as shelf space is at a premium they are packed close together.

The price is right and if you move quickly they can be okay, buy them as soon as they come in. Just make sure you unpack and plant as soon as possible.

The packs deteriorate very quickly especially in a warm store, you may not always get what you expected, there is a reason they are so cheap.
