The Royal Horticultural Society has also developed mini Chelsea’s with similar high standards, these are regional shows, combining plant displays, garden design and plant markets. Meanwhile, Other regional shows Like Harrogate and Southport have survived and flourished, there is even room for newcomers like gardening live in the NEC

Plant prices tend to be comparable to garden centres so you will not find bargain prices.
You will find inspirational displays, unusual varieties, excellent plant knowledge and brilliant plant societies.
If you include the entrance fee, food and drink and sometimes car parking you may not save any money on your plant purchases but you will have brilliant gardening experience and come back full of enthusiasm.

On a smaller scale but just as worthwhile is the society shows, where like-minded friendly gardeners set up seasonal shows to show off their plants. Much cheaper than a big show with less non-gardening distractions, you will find a wealth of knowledge and find truly rare plants for sale and plenty of helpful advice and sometimes beginner classes.

The Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) has been Britain’s gardening charity since 1804 – when it was founded under the title ‘The Horticultural Society of London’ by Sir Joseph Banks and John Wedgwood; its aim was to collect plant information and encourage the improvement of horticultural practice.

The RHS continues to encourage the science, art and practice of horticulture in all its branches and it is now the world’s leading horticultural organisation via their 4 core values – passionate about gardening, leaders in the gardening world, environmentally responsible and trustworthy.
