They are very adaptable, easy to grow and small plants are inexpensive to buy
Monstera deliciosa, the swiss cheese plant has been around our houses for over 100 years going in and out of fashion.

Habit
Famous for its deeply slashed leaves, they can grow quite tall and should be given space to grow. They will need a cane to support the stem.
Aerial roots will appear from the stem, they can be encouraged to head down to the compost.
Young plants will not develop the famous slashed leaves until they are fully grown.
Temperature
They are very adaptable, happy at room temperature but will also survive lower temperatures.
Watering
In warm conditions, especially through the summer water often, they will enjoy it if you mist or sponge the leaves. In a cool room and during the winter you can allow the compost to dry out a little before watering.
Positon
They need a brightly lit spot, they might stand light shade but the plant will lean towards the light. Direct sunlight will burn the leaves.
Very tough, a classic house plant and fun to grow.
Very few bad habits, not happy in deep shade, large plants can be expensive.
