Devils ivy or Pothos

They are very adaptable even in very deep shade with an attractive climbing or trailing habit.

They can be a bit confusing to buy, now called Epipremnum, older gardeners will call them Scindapsus, the name was changed in the ’60s to Epipremnum but you can still find it sold today as Scindapsus or even golden Pothos its 1880 name.

There are two kinds,
The golden devil’s ivy or golden pothos now called Epipremnum or scindapsis aureus
The satin or pothos painted vine scindapsus pictus
Habit
It can reach more than 2 metres in height if it is given adequate support.
Re-pot them when the pot is full of roots, only moving them into a slightly bigger pot.
Temperature
They are very adaptable but like warmth, happiest at room temperature.
Watering
Water when the compost feels dry and mist the leaves.
Positon
The best results are achieved by providing indirect light, it tolerates a small amount of direct sun, but long periods will burn the leaves.
Long straggly stems and leaves are caused by lack of light.

Very tough, happy in part or even deep shade and fun to grow.

Very few bad habits, can grow too big, if straggly they need more light.
